Dear Max,
Thanks for your letter. It was great to hear from you. Sorry to hear about your sister's shopping disaster — frozen vegetables for three days sounds really awful!
As for your questions, in my family it's usually my mum who buys food, and she goes to the supermarket twice a week. We usually have porridge, soup, pasta and lots of fruit and vegetables at home. I think our local grocery stores are quite good: they are close to my house and the prices are reasonable, though the choice of fresh fish could be better.
By the way, your trip to the national park sounds exciting. Where will you stay? How long will the trip last? What will you do there?
Write back soon.
Best wishes,
Alex
