In Russia, May 1st began as a workers' solidarity holiday in the late 19th century and was officially celebrated after 1917. Today it is called Spring and Labour Day. On this day, parades, concerts and trade union meetings are held in many cities, and some people go to demonstrations. As for my family, we usually have a quiet day off: we go for a walk in the park, have a picnic if the weather is warm, and visit my grandparents.
By the way, your news about the fitness centre sounds interesting. How big is it? What sports can you do there? How much does a monthly membership cost?
