Nowadays, cultural life is an important part of teenage experience, and Zetland teenagers are no exception. The table presents the results of a survey asking young Zetlanders what could motivate them to visit the theatre more often.
According to the data, the most popular answer is productions connected with themes relevant to respondents' lives, chosen by 35% of teenagers. Another 30% say that after-show parties and opportunities to meet the actors would encourage them, while 22% are attracted by affordable prices.
Interestingly, the gap between the top two options is only 5 percentage points, which shows that both meaningful plots and social contact with actors matter almost equally. By contrast, behind-the-scenes tours and positive reviews from popular bloggers are far less influential, at 7% and 6% respectively, so traditional advertising clearly works worse than personal relevance and direct experience.
A serious problem can arise for teenagers who are not interested in cultural events: they may feel isolated from their peers and miss opportunities to broaden their outlook.
