Задание 38 ЕГЭ по английскому языку

Nowadays many teenagers are expected to decide on their future profession while they are still at school. People disagree about whether an early career choice guarantees success. I strongly disagree with the statement that an early choice guarantees success.

In my opinion, a career decision made too early is often based on limited knowledge. Teenagers usually know very little about the real demands of different jobs, so their choice may be influenced by parents, friends or films rather than by their own abilities. Moreover, people change as they grow up: interests and talents that seem obvious at fifteen may look completely different at twenty-five.

However, supporters of an early choice have their arguments. They say that those who start preparing for a profession in advance gain a head start: they enter the right university and build professional contacts earlier than others. Besides, a clear goal helps young people stay motivated and avoid wasting time on subjects they will never need.

I cannot fully agree with this position. A head start is valuable only if the direction is right, and an early decision often turns out to be a costly mistake. It seems much wiser to explore different fields and make a conscious choice later, when a person knows himself better.

To sum up, an early career choice may sometimes be helpful, but it is not the key to success. Real success comes from constant learning, flexibility and the ability to reconsider one's plans when life demands it.
