Nowadays, many people in big cities are choosing how to get to work, and cycling is often seen as a healthy and eco-friendly option. However, my project shows that a large number of Zetlanders still refuse to commute by bicycle, and I have found some data explaining why.

According to the table, the most common reason is distance: 49% of the respondents say the journey is too far. Another significant factor is the weather, as 24% mention unfavourable climate conditions. A much smaller group, only 13%, points to the shortage of roads with bicycle lanes.

Comparing the figures, distance is mentioned more than twice as often as the climate (49% versus 24%), which suggests that practical considerations matter more than weather. It is also striking that infrastructure problems are far less important: only 8% complain about the lack of bicycle parking lots, and just 6% about heavy traffic.

A serious problem with cycling in a big city is safety, since cyclists often have to share the road with cars. A possible solution is to build more dedicated bicycle lanes and separate paths, which would make riding much safer and more attractive.

In conclusion, I believe that a well-developed public transport system combined with safe cycling routes is the best way of getting around a big city. It reduces traffic jams and pollution, and it gives people a realistic alternative to driving, even when distances are long.
