Hi, I've found two photos for our school project on volunteering, and I'd like to explain my choice. The first photo shows a woman and a child collecting litter into a black bag beside a lake, with other volunteers working behind them. The second photo shows a woman caring for a black dog inside an animal shelter enclosure. These pictures illustrate two completely different kinds of volunteering, which is exactly why I chose them. The main difference is the setting: one activity takes place outdoors in nature, while the other happens indoors at an animal shelter. Another difference is the kind of help: the first is about protecting the environment, and the second is about looking after animals. The first type of volunteering, cleaning up natural places, has clear advantages. It makes our environment cleaner and safer, and it brings people together for a common goal. However, it also has disadvantages: it can be physically tiring, and bad weather can make the work unpleasant. The second type, helping at an animal shelter, also has advantages. You give homeless animals care and a better chance of being adopted, and many people find this work emotionally rewarding. On the other hand, it can be emotionally difficult when you see animals suffering, and it takes a lot of time and patience. As for me, I would prefer the environmental volunteering shown in the first photo, because I enjoy spending time outdoors and I like seeing quick, visible results of my work.
