These two photographs show people enjoying their free time in very different ways. In the first picture, a family of four is spending time outdoors among autumn trees. The parents and their two children are standing with their bicycles, so they are probably going for a bike ride together. In the second picture, we can see a man at an indoor ice rink. He is wearing warm winter clothes and holding a pair of ice skates, so he is getting ready to go skating. Both photos have a lot in common: they show leisure activities, they involve physical exercise, and the people in them look active and happy. Another similarity is that both activities take place in special surroundings — a park for cycling and a rink for skating. However, there are some important differences. The first photo shows a group activity, while the second one shows a person who is alone. The first scene is set outdoors in natural surroundings, whereas the second one takes place indoors. Besides, cycling is a seasonal activity, while skating at an indoor rink is available all year round. As for me, I would prefer the way of spending free time shown in the first picture. I enjoy cycling because it combines fresh air, exercise and communication with my family. Riding a bike in a park helps me relax and feel close to nature, which is exactly what I need after a busy week. That is why the first option appeals to me more.
