Пример ответа
Nowadays millions of people travel to see famous historical sites, yet opinions differ on whether one should study them in advance. In my opinion, reading about historical sites before sightseeing is genuinely worthwhile.

Firstly, background knowledge turns a pile of old stones into a vivid story. Knowing who built a castle, why it was destroyed and what happened there makes the visit far more meaningful and memorable. Secondly, preparation helps one notice important details that an unprepared tourist simply walks past, such as an unusual arch or an ancient inscription. Finally, reading beforehand allows visitors to plan their route sensibly and spend limited time on what interests them most.

However, some people argue that preliminary reading spoils the impression. They claim that guidebooks and articles create expectations which reality cannot always match, and that it is more exciting to explore a place spontaneously, guided by curiosity alone. Moreover, they say that professional local guides can provide all the necessary information on the spot.

I cannot fully agree with this view. A guide is not always available or affordable, and spontaneous exploration often leaves tourists with beautiful photographs but almost no understanding of what they have seen. As for expectations, they can be kept realistic if one reads critically rather than relying on glossy advertising.

To sum up, although spontaneous discovery has its charm, I am convinced that reading about historical sites beforehand makes a trip deeper, richer and more rewarding.
