According to the table, the most popular reason is the desire to help people, mentioned by 48% of respondents. Passion for biology was selected by 20% of the participants, while 18% pointed to the public significance of medical work. These figures show that altruistic and academic motives clearly dominate.
Interestingly, the desire to help people (48%) is more than twice as common as a passion for biology (20%). This suggests that most future doctors are driven primarily by compassion rather than by pure interest in science. It is also worth noting that high salary and job stability together account for only 14%, so material benefits are far less important than personal values.
However, medical students often face enormous academic pressure and emotional burnout during their studies. A practical solution is to introduce regular psychological support and mentoring programmes at universities, so that future doctors can cope with stress and stay motivated.
